Barcelona is the busiest city in Catalonia and the second-largest city in Spain. Seen as a global city of culture, entertainment and fashion, recent increases in trade, tourism and construction has placed it on the world’s stage.
Barcelona is on a plateau on the north east of the Iberian Peninsula, south of the Pyrenees and Catalonian border with France. Although many new buildings have been constructed in recent years, the old section of the city has many Gothic buildings that date from medieval times, and present fascinating sights for tourists to the city.

Famous for its dedication to the arts, Barcelona has a large number of museums, namely the National Museum of Art of Catalonia, the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art and the Picasso Museum.

The city is also home to a total of seven beaches, covering nearly 5 kilometres of coastline in total, and which are popular destinations for tourists and locals alike. Sant Sebastià sees nudists bathers and surfers flock to enjoy the sand and the sun, naturally, while Barceloneta is one of the oldest and largest beaches that has long played a part in the city’s history.
Book Spain holidays and pay a visit to Barcelona, where the Spanish culture is best celebrated in its festive nightclubs, art museums and beautiful beaches.
